Welcome to the Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund The AOSF 2018-19 application cycle is now closed. With over a thousand families having applied, the scholarship application for New Applicants has considerably exceeded its maximum capacity and is now closed for the 2018-2019 school year. The General Scholarship (to be used at private/public boarding schools) is now open until capacity is reached. **IMPORTANT: AOSF allows each household to apply for either the PSA or the General Scholarship, not both. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The AAA requires scholarship granting organizations to give priority to students zoned to a “failing school” as defined by the Alabama Department of Education. Please read below for more information on both scholarships: The general scholarship application opens Wednesday, May 23 at noon and it will close as soon as spots are full. Families only interested in attending a private school should apply at this time. The general AOSF scholarship helps cover tuition and mandatory fees at the private schools that are listed on our partner school page. to view a list of AOSF's 2018-19 partner schools, please click here. Public School Access (PSA) Scholarship: The Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund (PSA) scholarship provides scholarships that cover students’ public school transfer fees. The Public School Access (PSA) scholarship opened May 7th at noon-May 18th and cannot be used at a private school. Families only interested in attending a non-failing public school applied at that time. The PSA scholarship strictly covers all of the transfer fees that are assessed when moving from a school in one Alabama district to another district. Please Note: Not all districts accept public school transfer students. You will need to check with the public school that you are interested in sending your child to. To view a list of 2018-19 “failing schools,” please click here. Please read the following information and eligibility requirements carefully and follow the link at the bottom to apply for the 2018-19 AOSF General scholarship. Families who apply for a PSA scholarship cannot apply to receive a standard AOSF scholarship that can be used at a private school. • If you have already applied for the PSA scholarship, you may NOT update or change your existing application to a general scholarship application. All new applicant families must meet the income guidelines in the income chart below. If you have submitted a 2018-19 renewal application, you will NOT need to resubmit a new application for new applicants in the same household. Funds are limited and you are not guaranteed a scholarship, even if you meet income requirements. Applications are only complete when all required documentation is submitted. An incomplete application cannot be processed. Once funds for the 2018-2019 school year are exhausted, Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund will no longer issue awards for the school year.
