ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible to receive a scholarship through the Tuition Donation Credit Program (TDC), a student must be in or entering grades K-12 for the 2018-19 school year and meet the following residency, prior school, and income requirements: Residency Family must reside in the state of Louisiana.Prior School Students must meet one of the following prior school-year requirements: Participated in the Tuition Donation Credit Program during the 2017-18 school year; Participated in the Louisiana Scholarship Program during the 2017-18 school year; Attended a public school in Louisiana on October 1 & February 1 of the 2017-18 school year; or, Entering Kindergarten for the first time. Funds are limited and you are not guaranteed a scholarship, even if you meet the requirements. The non-refundable application fee is $30 and payable by Credit Card, E-check, or by mail. The cost of the application fee covers processing. All application fees are received by TADS. None of the monies ever reside, pass through, or are deposited by Arete Scholars. Upon completion of your online application you will receive instructions that provide guidance on how to submit residential and income eligibility documentation to TADS. Documents sent directly to Arete Scholars will not be accepted. Applications are only considered complete when ALL required documentation is submitted. An incomplete or incorrect application cannot be processed. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to current Arete recipients and Louisiana State Scholarship students. Your priority status is not set until all documents have been submitted. Once funds for the 2018-2019 school year have been exhausted, applicants will be placed on a waiting list and awarded only if additional funds become available for that school term. PLEASE NOTE: Being placed on a waiting list does not guarantee a scholarship. Unused scholarships will expire July 15, 2018. Any tuition or fees that exceed the individual scholarship award will be the responsibility of the applicant. Any qualified student receiving a scholarship from Arete Scholars shall be prohibited from receiving any other publicly funded scholarship, voucher, (such as another TDC scholarship or the Louisiana State Scholarship Program), or other form of public assistance specific to that student for purposes of attending a non-public school. While this application asks what nonpublic school applicants plan on attending, receiving a scholarship from Arete Scholars Louisiana does not guarantee enrollment in a particular nonpublic school. Scholarship recipients must contact the private school and go through their admissions process. If you are awarded a scholarship and are accepted into a private school, you will be contacted before the start of school and are required to confirm your school choice to ensure payment. Arete Scholars sends scholarship money directly to the school of your choice only when your child(ren) have been accepted and are enrolled. Checks are made payable to the applicant and you must restrictively endorse the check over to the school. If you refuse to sign a check, or do not sign in a timely manner, your scholarship may be rescinded. Arete scholarship recipients are required to take state tests in English Language Arts (ELA) and math while enrolled in applicable grades/courses. PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT: By submitting this application, you hereby agree to allow Arete Scholars Louisiana or its designated agent(s) (hereafter collectively referred to as “Arete”) to verify any and all information that you have provided in the application and any related documents, and agree to cooperate so that the information may be fully verified. Arete may use any or all of the following means to verify the information that you have provided, including but not limited to: contacting current or previous employers, checking publicly available records such as county tax records, requesting your child’s previous school records, requesting copies of tax returns, requesting criminal background checks, etc. By submitting this application, you agree to cooperate fully in our efforts to verify the information you have provided, which may require you to sign additional forms, as needed, to provide Arete access to all necessary records. You do also hereby agree to provide to Arete, upon request, additional student records, including but not limited to standardized testing results and report cards, and do also consent to your school releasing such records directly to Arete. Failure to cooperate fully may result in your application being denied. Any information collected by Arete shall remain confidential. However, Arete reserves the right to report any and all information collected in aggregate form to allow third party researchers to evaluate the effectiveness of the tax credit program. In the event Arete provides any information for research purposes, the identity of the individuals to whom the information pertains will remain confidential and will not be reported.
